Whew! After a couple weeks off, I am back to writing for submission and having fun with it.
This week I submitted “Haven’t We Been Here Before?” to Orion’s Belt and “Misfit Pieces” to Calendar of Fools, two science fiction stories for two anthologies.
I also mailed my story “Dear Aliens” to the “Dear Aliens” writing contest which specifically requested snail mail entries. As per contest instructions, I addressed it to “Dear Aliens.” Well, wouldn’t you know that triggers a security response? My letter was seized by US government security services for scrutiny. It has since been released, but I thought the story of the story amusing. Much ado about a 500 word comedy crafted in the form of a letter.
So that’s 3 successful submissions this week and this morning I just finished the first draft of my comedy horror “Happy Bris-Day” for submission to Screaming Scorpion Press. Next up on the writing schedule will be End of the Line for UK Writer’s College and Wyrd Warfare for Raconteur Press.
Stone’s Throw magazine declined my submission “Isn’t It Funny?” so I published it to my newly added “Bleeding the Dark Humours” collection on Substack as my weekly story. You can enjoy it here: https://brainsoupfic.substack.com/p/isnt-it-funny
